Boeuf Bourguignon & Baby Sloths | Fredericton wedding and portrait photographer Kandise Brown

March 23rd, 2012

After a great lunch date with the lovely Shannon-May, things are winding down here for the weekend. My book club meets tonight, and since our latest selection was Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential, tonight our meeting will be even more food-oriented than usual. AG – ever the culinary overachiever – decided to make Julia Child’s Boeuf [...]

My book club meets tonight, and since our latest selection was Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential, tonight our meeting will be even more food-oriented than usual. AG – ever the culinary overachiever – decided to make Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon recipe for the potluck. His decision nearly led me to share this video, but since that might be slightly too niche, here’s baby sloths instead! Happy weekend!

Driving home from from Boston we listened to a bunch of different albums, including Lykke Li’s Wounded Rhymes. This was one of my favourite albums of 2011, but it had been a few weeks since my last listen. The music reached out and slapped me again as I remembered “oh yeah, this album ROCKS.” Happy [...]

I Love to Laugh | Fredericton Photographer Kandise Brown

March 9th, 2012

There’s a lot to smile about this week. The warm weather. Celebrating AG’s birthday on Monday (I’m pretty sure I got him the best present ever!). Yesterday’s beer tasting, brought to us by Picaroons. The new tulips in the vase in front of me. That this weekend I’m off to Boston for Jasmine Star’s TheFIX. [...]

Happy weekend!

I still haven’t downloaded my images from the week, much less prepared something cohesive to say about my experience. Fortunately it’s video Friday, and Still Motion created a video that perfectly encapsulates the sights and sounds of the past week… and as an added bonus, you can spot me!   4 people, 1 story. This [...]

This week I capped off my 2-day guest speaking gig with NBCCD’S Photography Program by doing an in-class critique of their work… they are so brave! This week I capped off my 2-day guest speaking gig with NBCCD’S Photography Program by doing an in-class critique of their work… they are so brave! Being part of this has given me so much to think about in terms of my business, my person, and my opportunities. I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I do know that I want to continue to say yes. As Stephen Colbert says in one of my favourite quotes:

“Don’t be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying “yes” begins things. Saying “yes” is how things grow. Saying “yes” leads to knowledge. “Yes” is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say “yes.””

Unrelated, this past weekend we watched the Super Bowl with friends. Much was made of the commercials, as usual, but after checking them out online afterwards I have to say that my favourite was this one, which didn’t air in the U.S. For once we got the good stuff, folks!

Happy weekend!
