On Canada Day some friends and I visited Kings Landing. The theme that weekend was “Fine Wines and Tempestuous Times,” or as they put it:

It is 1855 in New Brunswick and a law to prohibit liquor is introduced. Will the impending law devastate our economy, or is it in our best interests to outlaw the demon rum? On this Canada Day Weekend, find out for yourself. Meet Simeon Jones, a famous brew master and son of Thomas Jones of Kings Landing fame. Learn famous New Brunswick drinking songs and sign a petition to save the Kings Head Inn (will you be able to sample a forbidden beverage?), or follow Samuel Leonard Tilley and join in the cause of the Sons and Daughters of Temperance Demon rum… “yea” or “nay,” you decide.

As always the settlement was beautiful and the cast excellent. Over the course of the day we saw many arguments for and against prohibition, attended a temperance rally, and then later in the day saw a barn dance! I regret that I didn’t get to learn any of those NB drinking songs, though. I’ve visited Kings Landing two summers in a row now and still not been able to see the entire settlement, so I guess that means I’ll be back again next year!

Long, long ago, in a kingdom far, far away (more specifically October 2009; Moncton) I attended a portrait workshop with Maurice Henri as part of FotoExpo 2009. I didn’t really take many photos that day – the photographer to model ratio was something like infinity to 1, and jockeying for position really isn’t my style. I got home, looked at the images I shot, and then abandoned them. I figured I’d wait until some late winter month when business was slow and the blogging intermittent. Now is that time.

This session is unique because Kisa will probably never see these, and it’s a shame because I think she may have liked them! So I’ll send my thanks out to the universe and hope she gets it. Beautiful girl, stunning model.

It’s been a month now since I met up with Hawrishok clan (oh October, were you really so long ago?) and they are being super patient as I finish up their images. While I’ve been editing it seems my blog has gotten dusty and neglected, so here is another teaser to keep things spicy. What lovely women!

Usually I avoid borders, but in this case I thought the film strip treatment looked . . . → Read More: the ladies | fredericton photographer | hibou photo

Funny story. Friday after work the manfriend and I went to El Burrito Loco for an afternoon margarita. I was taking a picture, and and one of the waiters came out and with his thick accent said “you are PHOTOGRAPHER??” I confirmed, and then he talked about sending a letter to his family back home and asked me to take a picture of him. Then he gave me his thumb drive and made me pinky-swear-promise to return it so that he could print the pictures and send them off. He said we look like newlyweds. Then he made us wear sombreros.
