My first portrait session as hibou photo took place two years ago today! I can’t believe how time has flown by, and how every opportunity makes me feel so lucky to be able to do this job.

Anyone who has followed this blog for any length of time knows that my first client was Sam, someone whose initial maternity photos have turned into a lasting photographic relationship that has she and her family popping up here every few months. I’m so lucky to have this woman as a client, cheerleader, and friend, so it’s only fitting that I should celebrate this occasion by posting the images we created two weeks ago. A new client is on the way…

I met the St. Onge family on a winter wonderland-type day, with a fresh blanket of snow and more falling. Burton was a brand new destination for me, and I was so excited by that bridge! And this family… what a bunch of lookers! :D There was a lot to photograph since we met up outside to capture some shots of the family and Amy’s little belly, and then home to warm up and do some lifestyle shooting. Isabelle demonstrated how she communicates with her soon-to-be baby brother… and then whipped out her own little camera. Future competition!

Mini-session! It has been ages since I did a maternity shoot, so I was already excited to meet up with Lesley & Kayne to document this exciting time in their lives. Then they turned out to be gorgeous, and that was exciting, too. Because of a cross-country running competition,we met up at Odell Park on the same day as roughly a thousand other people – fortunately we found a quiet little place near the entrance to do our thing.

I had the hardest time selecting images for this blog post as I honestly wanted to use every single photo from the session. I managed to exercise a tiny bit of restraint though… enjoy!

When I met Annik & Chris in January it was for the second of a planned three maternity shoots to show the progression of Annik’s long-awaited belly baby (see previously: 21 weeks). We hung out at their house, took some shots of the nursery, just relaxed and captured some images of the happiness, the distinct… dare I call it a glow, that Annik had. It was a mini-session, and as I said, we figured we had one more session to go.

These pictures were taken at 32 weeks. Alexis was born 12 days later.

So have you all gotten your flu shots? I did! And I think I’m glad, because I’m just coming off a week of some crazy wannabe-swine-flu… thing. I’m not saying it was or wasn’t swine flu, I’m just saying that I got the H1N1 and seasonal shots but all my symptoms matched up with swine [...]

I’m not saying it was or wasn’t swine flu, I’m just saying that I got the H1N1 and seasonal shots but all my symptoms matched up with swine flu and it was not. pretty. Um, anyway.

Point is, Annik has had to wait longer than usual to get the first sneak peek from her session. The wait is over!
