September,

Best weather of the year? I had no shortage of things to do this month, between biking and kayaking, the FREX, the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, Terry Fox Run, and two photography workshops, on top of clearing out a backlog of work, reorganizing my office, and generally getting my house in order – figuratively and literally. On a personal note, I also got to spend more-than-usual time with friends (very welcome!), and AG and I battled through illnesses to celebrate our 4th anniversary this week with a drink at Corked followed by dinner at Racines. On the business side, one of my shoots was featured on The Indie Tot. Cool! Despite the fact that I’m currently mainlining Pepto-Bismol to steady myself for tomorrow’s wedding, I am going to attempt to spend the rest of this day – and so, this month – soaking up as much of that sunshine and warmth as possible.

xoxo

It’s probably apparent by now that I love being outdoors in September. Well, almost any time, but particularly in September. Part of it is that we’re actually home in September – I counted, I’ve been in Fredericton only 8 out of 20 weekends since May – part of it is that it is so nice [...]

It’s probably apparent by now that I love being outdoors in September. Well, almost any time, but particularly in September. Part of it is that we’re actually home in September – I counted, I’ve been in Fredericton only 8 out of 20 weekends since May – part of it is that it is so nice out in September, and part of it is the sense of impending doom I feel as winter approaches, like I must DO ALL THE THINGS!! before we’re covered in snow.

One particular thing we like to do as a couple is go for a bike ride and then park it in a plum area to lay down in the grass and read awhile. This particular weekend we covered the 10 km out to Hartt Island, where I polished off Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, and began New York: The Novel. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny Sunday.

What a week! As Fredericton settles back into its typical sleepy self, I can already hardly believe how hard Harvest had us rocking. I had a Wednesday/Thursday pass and attended the shows as a regular concert-goer (albeit one who really makes an effort to get to the front row!), point-and-shoot camera in hand. Here are [...]

I had a Wednesday/Thursday pass and attended the shows as a regular concert-goer (albeit one who really makes an effort to get to the front row!), point-and-shoot camera in hand. Here are some of the shots I captured from those shows: Garrett Mason & Keith Hallett, Buddy Guy, Ross Neilsen, Melvin Seals & the Jerry Garcia Band, and Levon Helm Band. Another post tomorrow with the back half of the festival!

I’m in the midst of Harvest madness right now: the Buddy Guy and Levon Helm shows were awesome, and now I’m gearing up for phase 2, volunteering! I’ll be putting in 6 hours today, 11 hours tomorrow, and hey, why not go to an afterburner in between those? If that won’t wipe me out, participating [...]

I’ll be putting in 6 hours today, 11 hours tomorrow, and hey, why not go to an afterburner in between those? If that won’t wipe me out, participating in the Terry Fox Run on Sunday probably will!

Since I don’t have photos of musicians to share yet, I thought I’d share a different kind of harvest. Last year my CSA box did not include corn. Last year I didn’t have a barbecue. This year I have corn in my box, a barbecue to grill it on, and life.is.delicious.
