How you know you’re cool: spending Friday night in front of the ol’ FTP machine.

That’s right, I have finally updated my website – for the first time since starting this whole photographic venture. I’m so pleased to be able to show off my beautiful past clients to my potential new clients (and I do hope to see my past clients again!). Some of the changes I’ve made in this update are adding new photos (of course!), explaining a bit more about the process of different kinds of photosessions and what they involve, an overall adjustment of the “voice” to more reflect me and how much of a serious person I’m not, and the prices.

Ah yes, the prices. They have increased.

Others are content to be the cheapest photographer. There is a market for that, and no shortage of photographers bemoaning the “outrageous prices” of others. But.

I work hard to produce the images that I present to my clients. I typically spend no less than 5 hours on a portrait session, AFTER the session is over [and after a full day of work at my regular job!]. At my former rate, that worked out to $16 an hour. Consider that I have spent up to 20 hours on a session, and we’re down below minimum wage. Or would you gauge the price by the number of images? I’ve never given a client fewer than 25 images – are they really worth only $4 each? An 8×10 frame at Wal-mart costs over $15!

After some thinking, and number-crunching, I have changed my fees to be more representative of the quality of my work and the service I provide at this point in time. I hope you agree!

P.S. When you look at my new portfolio, are there 5 albums? There should be 5 albums.
