He’s here! The much-anticipated little one. He burst onto the scene a bit early in fact, and if I recall correctly he is now, at a month old, a heavyweight champion of 7lbs and change. So wee! So charming! So adored!

What a weekend! (I think I need a recovery nap.) I ended up doing three sessions, and the happy result is that I have a lot of stuff to share here in the coming days. The first image is of Annik, and be prepared to see a lot of her over the next few months. We’ve [...]

What a weekend! (I think I need a recovery nap.) I ended up doing three sessions, and the happy result is that I have a lot of stuff to share here in the coming days. The first image is of Annik, and be prepared to see a lot of her over the next few months. We’ve put together a little maternity progression package that will chart her growth at 20, 30, and 40 weeks, so Annik is going to be a blog staple until March!

I met up with this family a few weeks ago late on a Saturday afternoon, and spent about an hour chasing two cuties around the backyard with my camera. I took almost a thousand photos. (Really). The results: exactly what I like. Fun, fresh, outdoorsy. No posing. No saying “cheese.” It doesn’t hurt that they [...]

The results: exactly what I like. Fun, fresh, outdoorsy. No posing. No saying “cheese.” It doesn’t hurt that they are all really good looking.

I admit, I had something a little different in mind for this post. I was going to wait until the entire family session was done, and then post them all together. But. I have been done the photos of Sammy for awhile now, and given the very busy period I have ahead of me, not to mention the fact that I’ll be seeing Sammy and his family again tomorrow, I just can’t wait any longer to share them! I hope you like them. :)

I come by my photography quite naturally; both my father and grandfather are huge photo nerds themselves. My grandfather in particular has amassed quite the collection of gear. He shoots all digital now, toting around his little Canon ELPH, so I have been needling him for awhile about how he should definitely, clearly, give his old stuff to me.

Well somewhat to my surprise, he did!

(I look like a mega dorky little kid in the above photo)

Needless to say, I’ve since been having fun testing out all that new stuff. One of the rolls of 120 film (expired since before I was born, I’m sure) immediately went into the Holga, and popped the 300 mm zoom on my SLR – many, many, bird photos ensued. A few more shots from my (wonderful) Thanksgiving weekend are under the cut.

This weekend I, as so many, am off to visit family. Having lived in Nova Scotia the past 8 years, this will be the first time I’ve celebrated Thanksgiving with my family since 2002! This weekend I, as so many, am off to visit family. Having lived in Nova Scotia the past 8 years, this will be the first time I’ve celebrated Thanksgiving with my family since 2002! I’m looking forward to a home-cooked turkey with all the fixings, relaxing, playing games with friends and family, and the pumpkin whoopie pies the manfriend is going to make.

This Thanksgiving I am celebrating:

  • my own health, too often taken for granted.
  • that of my family; at 26 I am so lucky that my parents and all of my grandparents continue to be vivacious and engaged
  • my friends, one of whom I’m pleased to host for an orphan Thanksgiving (she just moved back to Canada!)
  • my manfriend, thanks for whom could easily eat up a post of its own
  • my business, which is growing in endlessly pleasing ways. I have a lot to offer in the coming weeks; beyond the wedding shoot and family shoot I have yet to post (soon!), I have four portrait sessions scheduled for next weekend. Four! Bellies and babies and families, oh my! So thank you, Fredericton, for embracing me. I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving!
